Hawk Woods Nature Center is owned by the City of Auburn Hills. It offers endless opportunities for outdoor recreational activities. This unique facility offers groomed nature trails, a marsh boardwalk, a heated restroom/shower facility open year-round, a covered picnic shelter, a two-story Log Cabin Lodge with five overnight camping cabins, all complimented by 80 acres of beautiful woods, meadows and marsh.
The Lodge is a two-story log cabin. This unique facility, located in what seems like the middle of the woods up-north, is an ideal place for large gatherings. It contains indoor dining tables and benches and affords with it a camp fire pit.
Hawk Woods has 5 log cabins able to house 6 persons each. Each cabin contains 3 sets of single bunk beds, a small table, shelving, hooks, electricity and a ceiling fan. The cabins are side by side in a circular pattern with walkways between them and a campfire pit in the center.
Hawk Woods has been the site of many events for Michael V. Novak in his tenure as a youth minister. Michael has run annual retreats for his 8th Grade Confirmation class and his high school youth ministry program for the past 5 years in the confines of the cabins and main lodge. He has also led a KAIROS retreat and SURVIVOR experience for teens at Hawk Woods, and looks to use the venue for future endeavors, including his summer of 2014 inspirational writing camp called Write Now! and a third installment of YouthstocK.
