Michael V. (M.L.) Novak is happily married as a father, stepfather, grandfather, Deejay, Director of Education and Evangelization as well as a Youth Minister. He is also a writer, publisher and basketball coach. He has worked in the Archdiocese of Detroit for over 35 years. He was raised in a large family and attended private schools before going off to Adrian College for three years in the early 1980’s. He earned his Associate of Arts in Ministry Degree and Pastoral Ministry Certification from Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. He later earned his B.A. from The University of Detroit Mercy. He has won several local awards for Service to the Community and Faith Leadership. He has led countless service trips, youth retreats, evangelization trips and World Youth Day Pilgrimages in his tenure. He is the creator of the “Jammin’ With Jesus”, "YouthstocK”, and "Fight the Good Fight" programs. He has emceed many World Youth Days events and large gatherings as an animator. He has touched the lives of thousands of youth in his programs and travels.
With all of Michael’s many talents, he has always said, above them all, he is a writer. His first three books: a novel, “To Destiny” (2009), a collection of poetry, “Finished Products” (2009), and a collection of short stories, “Like A Rock” (2011), proved his unique style of writing analytically as well as profoundly. His follow up collections of poetry, “On Earth As It Is In Heaven” (2013), "Weathered Rhyme" (2016), "Eye of an Eagle, Soul of a Dove" (2017), "Silhouettes of the Sun" (2020) and "Write On My Heart (2021) continue with the same spiritual themes. In 2020, he completed a quarantine pocketbook series of 3 books, including an epic poem (I Am AJER) and a mystery of homonymical proportions (The Case To Case Case Two). They, too, affirm his inimitable mastery of the English language and the undeniable power of his spirit. Even more unique and innovative publications were in the works and in the Summer of 2022, he wrote and published a trilogy of 3 books in a matter of months. These were variations of short stories, including novelettes, sudden fiction, microfiction, twitterature, flash fiction and even single digit stories. The books are TAKEN AS REaD, a collection of 3 novelettes, THE TIDES ARE TURNING, a collection of 11 Flash Fiction Stories and IN A NUTSHELL, a collection of 101 stories anywhere from 1 to 1oo words. He then published his 15th book, another collection of poetry, SPIRIT SPARKLES in November of 2022. His poetry count for his lifetime is at 933 and rising. He has also written and recorded over 175 songs. Look for more in the future, including two books on spirituality: Fight the Good Fight and Through Tiers of Spirituality along with his next collection of poetry: Under Thy Wing.
